Why this project exists
General Chinese almanacs can identify dates marked suitable for marriage, while many online tools provide a result without showing the rules that produced it. BaZi Days combines published almanac status with a limited set of documented checks against both partners' available BaZi pillars.
The personal chart calculator follows the same transparency principle: it uses the exact birth hour and city to resolve historical timezone, true solar time, and all Four Pillars, then displays the time receipt and interpretation limits alongside the result.
The aim is narrower than a professional consultation: help couples screen a practical date range, understand why dates were recommended or removed, and keep real-world considerations visible.
What we publish
- The order in which availability, birth profiles, hard exclusions, categories, and rankings are applied.
- The exact point adjustments and 60/40 comparison weighting used by the current wedding ruleset.
- The time convention, missing-data behavior, tie rules, external reference data, and known limitations.
- A visible ruleset version so result-changing updates cannot be presented as if nothing changed.
Validation and review status
The current engine is covered by automated rule, boundary, ranking, and regression tests. Selected calendar dates are compared with published almanac lists, Hong Kong Observatory calendar data, and a separate Four Pillars implementation. These checks test consistency and reproducibility; they do not establish scientific validity or universal agreement between BaZi traditions.
Important disclosure
Wedding Ruleset v1.0 has not been independently certified by a named BaZi practitioner. BaZi Days will not display an expert-review claim unless that review actually occurs and the reviewer can be identified.
Project stewardship and change control
BaZi Days is maintained as an independent software project. The site does not present an unnamed “master,” invented editorial board, or fabricated expert endorsement. Trust is intended to come from reproducible calculations, published rules, external reference data, disclosed limitations, and tests that can be repeated.
Result-changing methodology is versioned rather than silently rewritten. If BaZi Days later receives an independent practitioner review, the reviewer, scope, and limits of that review will be identified instead of being implied.
What the calculator is—and is not
BaZi Days is a cultural information, decision-support, and comparison tool. It is not a scientific prediction, a personality diagnosis, a guarantee of marriage success, legal or financial advice, or a substitute for a practitioner who provides lineage-specific interpretation, family-member checks, or ceremony-hour selection.
Venue availability, family needs, health, budget, and the quality of the relationship matter more than any date selected by a calculator.
Corrections and feedback
Calculation bugs, unclear explanations, and source corrections can be reported through the contact page or at [email protected]. Reports should identify the exact page and provide reproducible steps or a reliable source where possible.
